Soup up NT/IIS
Test drive an update by installing in parallel first.
Download Goldpaint Files:
1) To obtain a copy of Goldpaint, go to our downloads page.
2) Determine which server platform you are using and download
the proper system. We now have binaries for most servers. If
your server is not listed then contact us and we will
compile a system for your server at no cost to you.
Getting Started:
Upload the proper system to your server. Goldpaint needs to be placed in
a secure location in order for the security features to be used in the
proper manner. If you are installing in a virtual domain place Goldpaint
outside of your webroot. ISP's need to install tame somewhere near root
level. Create a sub-directory called tame and place your system inside
of this directory. After you have uploaded Goldpaint to your secure
location you will need to unarchive the system.
Unix based systems:
There are two steps to this process. Unzipping and untarring. In telnet use the
command - gunzip -d filename.tar.gz This will unzip the archive and the .gz part
of the file will drop off leaving you with - filename.tar. In telnet use the
command - tar xfv filename.tar
NT/Windows 95 systems:
It is important you use a 32 bit unzipper only. After you have unachieved the
Goldpaint System using either method above a set of sub directories with the name
of "global" will be created in your tame directory. These are all of the system
files and libraries. Goldpaint needs the ability to read/write all of these
directories. In the tame directory you will find the binary for the system. This
is the actual executable which does all the work for Goldpaint. This binary needs
to be moved to the cgi-bin in the domain where the system was purchased.
When you purchased goldpaint, you were asked to fill out an
"install questionnaire". Based on this form we issued you a key for the
domain name you indicated on your questionnaire. Your Goldpaint system
will only work within this domain. So make sure you are installing in
the proper domain. Once you have moved the binary in the cgi-bin, you
are now ready to use the Install Wizard.
Unix based systems:
The binary for unix is "tame". In some cases you may need to change
the extension to .cgi. Make sure the binary is executable. From telnet
type the command - chmod 755 tame.
NT/Windows 95 systems:
The binary name for Nt is "tame.exe". Place your binary in the cgi-bin
which is using the standard cgi-bin process. For example "cgi-shl".
The most command problems with installing Goldpaint is in the
permissions. Goldpaint needs the ability to read/write in the tame directory
and also in the webroot of your domain. Goldpaint also needs permission to
execute the binary in your cgi-bin. In the install process Goldpaint needs
to be able to write to the cgi-bin in order to place a map file so it knows
the location of all it's files and libraries. Speak to your ISP before
installing Goldpaint and make sure you have the proper permissions in
place. Sometimes it is best to open the permissions wide open in the install
process. You can always close up the security after Goldpaint is installed
properly.
When you have completed all of the above, you can go onto the Install
Wizard. Our install wizard is executed from your browser using forms. Assuming
you have placed everything in it's above locations and the permissions are set
correctly, you need to run the install wizard from the web using the web
address for the domain name you purchased Goldpaint under.
Unix based systems:
http://your.domain.com/cgi-bin/cshop/!install.tam
NT/Windows 95 systems:
http://your.domain.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe/!install.tam
This address may not make sense to you now but run it as indicated above and the program
will know what to do from there. It first will ask you for the location of the tame
directory. Enter the absolute address of the tame directory. This will not be the web
address but the actual address on your server.
for example: /docs/Vsdocs/tame
Next Goldpaint will come up with the locations of all the files and directories it
needs to install your system. In most cases you will not need to change any of these
but if for some reason Goldpaint has chosen a location you do not want, then simply change
it yourself. Goldpaint will ask you for the key you were given when you purchased
your system. Do not attempt to type this very long number in yourself. Simply cut and
paste it into the install wizard.
*Note: If for some reason you have to start over with the install
process you must delete the map file create here first before re-
installing.
Click the install map file and continue on to the next screen. Tame should be able to
install itself from here. Assuming it has proper permission to do so. Click continue and
check to make sure tame was successful in writing it's files. If you see a message that
reads unable to write then back up and find out where the permission problem is and
change to proper permission.
Tame will bring up a series of screens which you should only have to verify that
information is being updated and written in it's proper locations. Click on the continue
buttons until you have completed the installation. After you have completed the install
and are in the demo shop and all icons and backgrounds are up and working, then you have
completed the install successfully.
Examples Shop:
Your demo shop is your starting point in using the system. We give you a sample
store, sample buy buttons, and your starter icon set. The mall administrator is used
to configure your shops and mall. The first person who enters an email and password in
the mall administrator is considered the mall owner. So make sure you go in and identify
yourself immediately.
Page with sample buy buttons:
Here we have given you many samples of how to use buy buttons. This page assumes you are using a "product.tdb" database. These buy buttons use the product code to bring up information out of your database. Each shop has it's own flat file database which is created in the build shop routine in your mall administrator.
Example: Building a computer system
This a an actual working shop we give you as an example of how our system works. When using
this shop as an example make sure you never view it from the web and use this as a
template. Pages dynamically created will never look the same from the web. Use ftp to
download and view these pages for actual correct coding.
Your starter icon set:
We give you a set of icons and buttons to use with your system. You are not required to
use this set of icons. You can create or use any type of buttons you like. However, it is
important that you use the file names and this sub-directory of "TAMICONS" so goldpaint
will know where to look for the varies buy buttons to display on your webpages.
Shop & Mall Administration:
The "Mall Administrator" is used to configure your entire system. With Goldpaint there is
no need for complicated cgi programming. The Administrator does all the configuring for
your system. You can open a new shop, edit a shop, configure payments etc all from within
your browser using this simple administrator.
If you have any questions pertaining to goldpaint, you may email us at webmaster@clickshop.com.
